Statement of Belief
The scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God presenting to us the complete revelation of God's will and plan for redemption. Disciples of Faith Ministries accepts the New Testament as our rule of faith and practice in matters of Christian living, under the New Covenant. We stand for the whole Bible-both Old and new Testament and we believe that all manifestations, practices, and behavior must be judged, tested by and in harmony with the written Word, rightly divided.
We believe in the Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ as taught in the Bible.
We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and that He arose again according to the scriptures.
We believe that the Bible emphatically and unequivocally teaches the union of three (3) persons in the Godhead, correctly called in theology, the Trinity. The three persons of the Godhead are (1) God, the Father, (2) Jesus Christ, the son, (3) the Holy Spirit, the Comforter.
We believe that Baptism w/ water in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, was commanded by Jesus Christ in Matt 28: 19-20 , and furthermore is essential to obedience, as an outward sign of identification with Jesus Christ, and that Jesus Christ, Himself, saves.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is in the life of every born-again Child of God. We further believe that the presence of the Holy Spirit in the born again believer works real holiness, real Bible sanctification in and through that believer, thus making for real Christian living which is the out-living of the in-living Christ. The fruit in the life of the child of God is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. (Gal. 5:22-23) We believe that the "fruit of the Spirit" is manifested through the dedicated, consecrated, sanctified, justified child of God.
Disciples of Faith Ministries believes that the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an experience from God promised to all believers in the New Testament Church period and can be received following the New Birth. (Mat 3:11;St John 14:16-17; Acts 1:4-8; 2:1-4;38-39; Acts 10:44-48 19:1-7) We believe that the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a Bible doctrine, a Scriptural experience and an inducement of power from on high to give Christians power for service. We believe that the initial physical reception of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit should be in harmony with Acts 2:4;10:46 and 19:6.
Disciples of Faith believes that the "fruit of the Spirit" listed in Gal 5:22-23 is for character in the Christian's life, whereas the "gifts of the Spirit" listed in 1Cor 12:7-11 are tools for Christians to work with. We believe that the 14th chapter of 1 Corinthians regulates the use of vocal gifts, that is the gift of prophecy, the gift of tongues, and we urge that all among us abide by these regulations. All gifts are to bring Glory to God, Honor to Jesus Christ, respect to the Holy Spirit, and edification to the Church, and a chance for sinners to get saved.
Disciples of Faith Ministries believes that tithing is to be the giving of at least one-tenth of one's income or the first fruits of one's increase to the work of the ministry as God's plan for the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Prov.3:9,Mal3:8-10;1Cor.9:13-14;Lev.17:30-32;Num. 18:21:St. Matt. 23:23;St Luke 11:42;Gen.14:28:22;Gal 6:6 and Heb.7:1-21)
We believe that anyone who physically dies out of Christ in sin is hopelessly and eternally lost in conscious punishment in hades and the Lake of Fire, and has no further opportunity of hearing the gospel and for repentance unto salvation. (Heb.9:27; Psalms 9:17; Luke 16:19-31:Matt 25:41-46;St John 8:21-24: Rev. 20:10-15; and 21:8)
We believe in the Rapture of the Saints of both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
We believe that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be when Jesus Christ comes to earth the second time to live and finish a special work of ridding the earth of all rebellion. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ will be after the Judgement of Israel, known as the Great Tribulation period and before the Milennium. (St. Matt. 25:31-46;1Cor;.15:24-28;and Rev. 19:11-21)
